THE HATCHET'S 2015 BEST OF NORTHWEST

GW Deli

BEST CHEAP EATS

Location: 2133 G St.

Runners up: Poppabox, Julia’s Empanadas

Even with an unassuming storefront, the GW Deli has a line out the door every morning that makes it difficult to miss.

The multiple varieties of bagels are a popular choice for students on the way to their first class, and customers customize classic picks – such as a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich – with toppings like avocado and Sriracha hot sauce. The deli also offers fresh soups and subs for the lunch crowd.

While waiting in line for a sandwich, which typically costs $5 to $7, you can browse the massive selection of snacks the deli boasts, from muffins and peanut butter-filled pretzels to granola bars and giant apples. And of course, pick up a drink, which usually costs between $2 and $3 dollars, to go with your breakfast. You can grab a juice or soda, but a massive cup of coffee and a deli sandwich are the perfect combination to keep you full and awake for the rest of the day.
