Runners up: Georgetown Cupcake, Sprinkles

“Get Baked,” urges cozy Georgetown bakery Baked & Wired, where cupcakes cost $3.65 each. The cafe is sure to cure any bad mood – can you imagine a grumpy person ordering a cupcake called Unicorns and Rainbows?

The saccharine name is a tribute to the sugary vanilla cupcake with heart-shaped confetti mixed into the batter and cream cheese frosting layered on top. Other flavors include the Elvis Impersonator and the Flapjack – both served only on the weekends. The Elvis Impersonator is a banana cupcake topped with peanut butter frosting and a chocolate drizzle, while the Flapjack is a maple brown butter cake topped with caramel buttercream.

Still not convinced? Try each with candied bacon sprinkled on top if you’re feeling particularly carnivorous.

Sit down and enjoy the atmosphere with some espresso from the coffee counter – if you can find a seat. The shop is usually teeming with customers with lines stretching out the door. But don’t even think about running to Georgetown Cupcake instead.
